Loved the Rose Bowl, the comeback kid strikes again. It appears for his last time in the college ranks, as he announced today he is going pro. Texas has big shoes to fill in the off-season. Your Buckeyes looked good against Notre Dame. How about Brady Quinn's sister? Nice looking jersey she had on. Looking forward to next year, maybe my Wolverines won't choke. Later Bud.

This was my rookie year being exposed to your column...it added to my enjoyment of the football season. This, your last report of the season, was your best. The media fell into their own trap. They avoided looking at any stats on Vince. His performance shouldn't shock folks at all because they match his stats from all year. Media got lazy and caught up on a highlight play here and there to fantasize about Reggie and USC.

So Longhorn fans check this out. What if Georgia and Bama lose, then Miami climbs to #4. Then Va Tech beats the #4 team Miami the way they did Boston College, then they win the ACC Championship. That would certainly give them enough to pass Texas in the polls. Mack better hang 70 pts a game and OSU should be the 1st since the Aggies hung 60 on them. This may be a strange finish!

LSU alumni are already mad. Les, that wimpy little ear piece might have worked in Stillwater, but it isn't going to work in Tiger Stadium. Also, even if your QB does make the mistake of running the ball, you should still get a FG off in fewer than 20 seconds. He is not capable of coaching big-time football.

Ohio State only beat Cincinatti by 4 pts in 2002 and went on to win the national championship. My point -- parallels are dangerous in a sport where teenagers are expected to demonstrate consistency. In 1996 it could be said that the Gators were only concerned with stats by whipping Citadel and Middle Tenn, but they won the title, and Spurrier did care.
